Jellys and Compotes
Let us start with a little lesson: jellies are smooth concoctions made by boiling sugar, the juice of fruit and pectin or gelatin (which gives it it's consistency). Compotes are a dessert of fruit cooked in syrup (yes, yum!), and jams are made the same way of jellies, but have fruit bits and a less smooth consistency. Jams and Preserves are essentially the same thing, and can include fruit pieces, juice and skin, and are thickened with pectin (a natural ingredient).
