The end of summer is bittersweet for most of us, as we bid goodbye to the long, leisurely days under the hot sun, and we trade our flip flops for shoes, and swimwear for light sweaters. But as the weather cools, our kitchens heat up, as fall is the perfect time to start turning on the oven and getting into some serious cooking and baking.
A crisp and cool fall evening, the sun setting on the reddening leaves, sets the perfect scene to both inaugurate and celebrate the new season. Gather some of those gorgeous turning leaves for a beautiful tablescape, light some candles and throw the ultimate fall dinner party. There’s a wealth of fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables that can be had, like squash, crisp and sweet apples, figs and pears, which pair beautifully with meats like duck and creamy, delicious cheeses.
For our perfect fall dinner menu, we’ve selected succulent, healthy recipes that are filling but not overwhelming – we’ll reserve the heavy recipes for the chilly winter ahead.
We start with a choice of two appetizers: a sophisticated tartlet of creamy foie gras and cheese, then an easy-to-eat appetizer of sweet figs wrapped in salty buttery prosciutto. Then it’s time for crispy duck breast, paired with a flavorful fall salad featuring seasonal ingredients like apples and cabbages (View the Duck Magret With Cabbage And Apple Remoulade Recipe), plus perfectly roasted potatoes with sea salt and rosemary. Our fall dessert of choice is a delicious apple & blueberry gallete, served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Finish off this beautiful evening with some espresso and rich, indugent Nutella truffles, which you can wrap up and tie with pretty fall themed ribbon for your guests to take home as an edible favor and a reminder of a perfect Autumn night.

To drink, we’re always fans of having at least two types of wine – red and white- and beers, so all guests pair their meal with their favorite brew. Rather than the crisp whites of summer, opt for a more savory option like Chardonnay. For reds, a rich, tannic Argentine Malbec will pair beautifully with the strong flavors of the duck.
Our fall party recipes have been selected and developed by our expert chefs, tried and tasted (lucky us!), but always feel free to substitute ingredients for what you have at hand or if you think a dish would be better with your own twist (also let us know in the comments!). Pick whatever is fresh at the market, making the most of the last of the summer bounty and the beginning of the offerings of fall!
