Pecorino Romano - Premium

Pecorino Romano is a hard, salty cheese originating from Rome and featured in almost every kitchen in Italy. It has a robust flavor and is one of the most popular cooking cheeses in Italian cuisine. This distinctive cheese is bursting with character and delivers pungent tones of soft spices and seared butter.

“Pecorino” refers to any cheese made from sheep’s milk. Pecorino Romano is an oily cheese because of high amounts of butterfat in ewe’s milk. It is gluten-free and has no artificial fillers, additives or preservatives. Wheels sit on wooden shelves for about 8 months as the cheese sharpens and intensifies to create its iconic flavor.

We recommend serving Pecorino Romano at room temperature in order to enjoy the myriad of notable flavors. You will see butterfat tears form on this tasty cheese’s paste when it is the perfect temperature to eat. Because it grates so well, scatter it over pastas, risottos, and through salads. You can substitute this cheese into any recipe calling for Parmesan to give the dish a sharper flavor, like using it to make a spicier pesto. Accompany the strong flavor of this cheese with a bold red wine. Why not counter its strength and douse in your favorite honey to serve as a dessert?
