Marcona Almonds - Fried and Salted
These tasty little almonds from Spain are always our pick to partner with our cheese plates, or just with a cold beer. Plump, sweet and full of flavor, you’ll find Marconas addictive, we guarantee you. They’re usually found in tapas bars, fried and salted, like in this presentation.
Marconas come from Valencia, Spain. Much like other iconic foods, they have a cult following with foodies. Some call them the best almonds they’ve ever tasted, and we have to agree! Unlike other varieties, Marcona almonds are bigger, more rotund, and they’re softer rather than crunchy, more similar in texture to macadamia nuts than a regular almond. The intense “almond” flavor and a certain sweetness has enamoured foodies and chefs alike.
Pair them with Spanish cheeses like Manchego, a few silky slices of Serrano ham, and perhaps some Piquillo peppers and olives for a true tapas platter. You can also toss them into a salad for a soft crunch or mix them with other nuts and some spices for spiced mixed nuts for movie night. One of our favorite ways to serve Marcona almonds is the simplest: in a bowl, by themselves, paired with a super chilled beer!
