Camargue Red Rice

Buy short grain rice today! A French rice cultivated in the Camargue wetlands of France (also home to the famous Camargue sea salt), Camargue Red Rice is short-grained and unmilled, so it has a very sticky quality to it. The flavor is nutty and the texture chewy, similar to wild rice, and very filling. Perfect for a colorful and delicious side dish, cold rice salads and soups.

Availability: Usually ships within 1 business days. Product is non-perishable and can ship via Ground service.

I have been enjoying Camargue rice for many years and do not find it the least bit “sticky”. Sushi rice is sticky. Camargue rice is nutty, chewy and absolutely fabulous with roast chicken or duck. It’s also wonderful with salmon or as a warm rice salad with roasted veggies. Try cooking the rice in chicken or vegetable stock for a richer flavor. You can also sauté the rice briefly in butter or olive oil before adding the hot stock. Towards the end of the 25-30 minutes cooking time, skim the little blob of starch from the surface. Also, I cook in an uncovered pot at a slow rolling boil. Then, you will have perfectly separate grains. Delicious!
