  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. ground ginger
  • ½ tsp. grated nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp. ground white pepper
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ salt
  • 4 oz. butter
  • 4.5 oz. muscovado sugar
  • 2 tbsp. whole milk
  • Finely grated orange zest, from 2 oranges
  • 1 cup powered sugar, sifted
  • 1 ½ tsps. boiling water
  • 4 drops orange juice
  • 1 oz. almond slivers
  • Edible sugar pearls, optional

Directions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 330ºF
  2. Mix  butter, sugar, and add the milk and grated orange zest in a bowl. Sift the flour with baking powder, add baking soda, spices and salt and incorporate. Form the dough and press into a flat disc. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
