Cheddar and Bacon Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe

A delicious recipe that will take you from breakfast to dinner! Serve these buttery cheddar and bacon buttermilk biscuits for brunch paired with eggs, or paired with any main dish at lunch or dinner.

Cheddar and Bacon Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe Instructions

Ingredients
  • 1 ¾ cups cold flour
  • 4 ¼ teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons baking soda
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted very cold butter cut in cubes
  • 1 cup cold buttermilk
  • 4 ounces grated cheddar cheese
  • 2 ounces grated Gruyere cheese
  • 6 ounces chopped bacon, sautéed
  • ¼ cup chopped chives
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup ( 2 sticks) butter at room temperature
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon

Directions
  1. In a big bowl combine the flour with the baking powder, the sugar and baking soda.
  2. With 2 forks or a pastry cutter, cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until it looks like breadcrumbs.
  3. Add the cold buttermilk, the cheeses, the bacon and the chives and fold over until the dough separates from the walls of the bowl, do not to overmix .
  4. Put the dough onto a flat surface and roll the dough with a wooden rolling pin to get the dough about 1¼ inches thick.
  5. Cut using 2 1/2 inch cookie cutter. Place them on a baking pan covered with unbuttered baking paper. Brush the biscuits with melted butter and sprinkle with sea salt.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Let cool for 4 to 6 minutes and serve
  8. For the maple Butter: place the butter in a bowl , add the maple syrup and the cinnamon and whisk vigorously with a wire whisk until fluffy.
